Harvest Dinner time! Finn's school puts on a little Thanksgiving "play" where the three's class dress up as Native Americans and the four's class dress up as the Pilgrims, they sing a few songs and then all of the families share dinner together, just as the Native Americans and Pilgrims did for the first Thanksgiving. It's exactly the same "show" we saw last year only this time Finn got to be a Pilgrim, which for some reason, he was really excited about. Actually, he wasn't that excited about being a Pilgrim as he was getting to stand on the stage. The kids were really cute and only a few got stage fright and refused to sing. I'm sure I video taped it but you can just watch last year's performance here.
The whole harvest dinner portion of the evening is great in theory . . . all of the children sharing a nice meal together with their families, but in reality it is an absolute disaster. Total chaos and mayhem. Sort of like taking your child and all 30 of his or her best friends + siblings to a restaurant and expecting them to sit still and eat their dinner and not act like an animal while you attempt to carry on small talk with parents you see maybe 5 minutes a week in the carpool line. But, the kids have a blast and the teachers most likely walk away a little suspicious of our parenting/bribing techniques, but it's all in good fun, togetherness and thankfulness! Happy Harvest Day.
