Finn's South Carolina Getaway

While we were traipsing around Hong Kong, Finn was living large with his Mimi and Bop in South Carolina. I was away from him for 13 days (longest time apart) and I missed him like crazy, but I don't think he even noticed I was gone. He was too busy having fun. Going to baseball games, the park, visiting friends, playing with his cousin Luke, jumping on the trampoline, playing ball with Foster-Lily (he calls every dog Lily) and feeding the birds at swan lake, no wonder he didn't have time to miss us. He also cemented his "rock-star electrician" status by making sure that every light was in tip top shape and always ON. Bop, you can send Mark your electricity bill. I know Finn had a great time with his relatives and I'm so thankful that we have such wonderful families. Thanks Mimi and Bop for taking such good care of Finn. Here are just a few pictures from the week--they were way too busy to stop and take pictures.

Hong Kong: The Griswald's Asian Invasion

Mark, Mary Daniel, Lindsey and I went to Hong Kong May 10--19. We had a great trip and saw some amazing things, one of which was not the fish/meat market, which in 90 degree heat did not smell pleasant nor look terribly appetizing. I was completely surprised at the scale and sheer volume of buildings and how clean and tourist-friendly the city turned out to be. It was an interesting mix of British/Chinese culture. The shopping was insane. I'm not talking about having a GAP on every corner . . . this place had a Chanel, Burberry and Louis Vitton on every corner. It was slightly intimidating. Lindsey and I felt like Julia Roberts shopping on Rodeo Drive in Pretty Woman on several occasions. These are really only half of the pictures--I didn't have my camera every day and kept thinking I would get the rest from Lindsey before posting. But that doesn't seem like it's going to happen any time soon. She recently joined the non-paid workforce and I think is getting a taste of 9-5 life. I can't say enough about how clean this place was--hands down, Hong Kong has the nicest public restrooms I have ever been in. I'm sure there is lots more I can say about our trip and I'm sure I'll remember after I post this, but this will have to do for now.

Best Friends

Finn spent this past weekend with his grandbaa (my mom) while Mark and I went to DC to scope out neighborhoods and ride around our future home. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of their time together, probably because mom was too busy spoiling him to take any. But I'm pretty sure he didn't mind.

I have to say that I am more excited than ever about our move to DC. It is such a pretty town and there is so much to see, do and explore that I can't wait to get started. It didn't hurt that while there we found ourselves across the street from where the Obamas were dining on their first "date night." WHILE THEY WERE THERE. We saw the motorcade, the Secret Service blocking the street, the throng of people waiting and Mark even caught a glimpse of Michelle, although I didn't believe it at the time, his description of her outfit was spot on. Had I known this, I would have been elbowing my way up to the front of the pack. Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a sucker for celebrities.

Other than that whole moving thing, we are getting ready for our trip to Hong Kong. Mark, Lindsey, Mary Daniel and I are leaving on Sunday for our big trip. I'll make sure not to kiss any pigs while I'm there. Finn will be staying with the Lyles' clan in Sumter. I can't believe I won't see him for 10 whole days. I can't talk about it anymore because I'm getting verklempt.

I also have some sad news to report. Today, we said goodbye to Lily's longtime chew toy and inspiration for my original blog, Jimmy Chew. He was a good chew toy and I know he is in chew toy heaven right now. I can't believe that toy has lasted as long as he did, but then again, Lily knows a good chew when she sees one.

These aren't really new pictures, but they are pretty funny, so I'll share. Finn has really developed a strong attachment to Lily.  I'm pretty sure Lily would see it differently. She probably thinks he has developed a strong need to annoy the daylights out of her all of the time. In his new favorite game, he takes Lily's toy or in this case stick, away from her and then tries to get her to chase him to get it back, which she does, and then he takes it away again, and so on and so on.  To him, it never gets old. Lily disagrees.

Pssst. Lily, don't you want this stick?
It is so much better than yours.

Fine, I'll just take yours

Why are you making this hard?
Quick, look over there

Come and get me Lily

I just love Lily's expression in this picture
It says "there better be a warm bed, belly rubs galore
and a steak with my name on it waiting for me when we get back."
