Well, we have officially begun our countdown to birthday #2. I can't believe another year has gone by, almost. We are getting a good preview of what year 2 will be like. But I am getting ahead of myself. This past month has been pretty busy for us--a visit from Wade and Kriya Benich, trick-or-treating, trips to Boston and Baltimore, a trip to the Building Museum (little boy heaven) and a visit to the Disneyland of playgrounds, and many rides on the Metro (aka Choo Choo). We tried out some new things: a music class, not so successful; and story time at the library, semi-successful.

Finn has gotten quite chatty--I can ask him questions and he can give me answers. He tells me what he wants (night-night, altoids, lemonade, peanut butter m&m's) and what he doesn't want (pretty much everything else). He can tell you what he's done that day (playground) and what he wants to do the next day (also, playground). He is getting so independent that sometimes it makes me a little sad--if he had it his way, he wouldn't need me for anything. He wants to do it all by himself. This trait he comes by honestly . . . as a kid, one of my favorite phrases was "I will do it."

He will actually sit down and watch a tv show. Granted, it has to be one of two of his favorite Curious George episodes, but still. I never thought he would ever sit still for 15 entire minutes. And I know that according to the "experts" tv-watching is BAD for kids, but ask any mom of a toddler and I can assure you she will say it is GOOD.
He is still a picky eater but an excellent sleeper, and that is something I can definitely live with. He is really starting to develop an imagination, which I find amazing.

Yes, I cut his hair and yes, I am still mad at myself for doing it. Don't make me feel any worse. But, you have to agree, he is still a cutie-pie. He is 110% boy--loves dirt, sand, sticks, mud, trucks and anything loud. He is a big fan of his daddy, especially when he comes home from work bearing gifts . . . of the sugar variety. His favorite daddy-son outing is to "go 7-eleven and get icee and peanut m's."
